After a hiatus of six years, Linda returned to the Wissa Wassef Art Center near our apartment in Giza. This time she brought three other visitors, the traveling ladies from MN. It was nice to see that they were not the only visitors at the weaving center. The center is not on most visitors agendas but it should be.
The art center is well-known for its weavers who live on the premises and create marvelous artistry in woven wool and cotton.
When we last visited the Wissa Wassef Art Center in early 2020, they were setting up a tour to the United States and were negotiating for a showing in the Twin Cities later in that year.
Unfortunately, the Covid panic intervened and they never made it to the United States.
This year, the ladies stopped to see the artists at work and Linda took a few photos to show off the talented weavers.
Here we see the weavers setting up a loom to begin another beautiful piece.
Keep in mind that the designs originate in the minds of each weaver and they are not written. This is beyond creativity!
This link will take you to our previous post on this blog from 2020 with additional photos of the art and the Center.
