Clothes dryers are strictly an American phenomenon. Here is a chart from a 2004 economic study from Sweden comparing ownership of various appliances in the U.S. vs European nations.

Notice no country as high as 40% and that Spain is at 5%, Italy 10% and France 12%! I have to say I've never seen one in Egypt.
So here is Linda with our "green" dryer:
It's the same model as everyone else has in our neighborhood.Here's one in action. This was taken a few years ago in Luxor, near the Valley of the Kings, where we will be heading in a couple of weeks.
Another non-American thing about the washer. There was no box of detergent inside. Proctor & Gamble hasn't gone worldwide with that introductory box of new super xxxxxxx detergent. So we had to stop by the market tonight and pick up a box of the local product:
