We're not getting much coverage of the Winter Olympics here. We get highlights on the news - best coverage comes from CCTV-9. (That's the English language China Central Television. CCTV is becoming one of my favorites.)
It is reported that Al Jazeera Sports has the broadcast rights but only two of their seventeen channels are free. Those, of course, have soccer in the evening.
Perhaps this participation map explains the reason for no wall-to-wall coverage.
This doesn't mean we are missing all sports. Here are a couple of shots from an event in Nashville.
And, if sport is not your thing, how about an evening watching The Fighting Temptations (A New York advertising executive travels to a small Southern town to collect an inheritance but finds he must create a gospel choir and lead it to success before he can collect.) on the Fox Movie Channel.
With so much of "typical America" available on TV, one wonders how anyone could form a wrong impression about us.
