Charleston, West Virginia

We arrived in Charleston, West Virginia a bit past 5 p.m.  A perfect time to catch the sun glimmering on the dome of the state Capitol building.  This, like the Minnesota Capitol, is a Cass Gilbert design.  And what a setting for a Capitol.  Of the nearly forty that we have seen, this one offers the best view.  The picture from close up is interesting.

But go across the Kanawha River and take a look.

And while you are on that side, go up into the hills and follow Louden Drive.  This is a scenic drive that anyone will love.
