As we traveled west from Denver into the Rockies, we had barely gone fifty miles when we saw the signs for "historic" Georgetown. The town appeared easily accessible, so we pulled in and parked. Linda stopped in the post office to buy some stamps for postcards but found it closed from 1:00-2:00 p.m. for lunch.

And then we drove through a couple of the nearby streets and found some older building still in use:
When we left the Twin Cities on Friday, we had heard that at least one ski area in Colorado had opened. As it turns out, we would see it in action. A few miles from Georgetown as you near the Eisenhower Tunnel, Loveland Ski Area appears on the left side of the highway. This was the first ski area to open and we stopped to watch the action for a few minutes.
