We were passing through Belton, Texas, this morning when we spotted the Shipley Do-Nuts sign advertising Kalaches. Kolaches are a delightful Czech pastry. They are usually sweet and filled a poppyseed mixture or prunes.
We stopped in and asked what flavors they had available. "Just sausage, ham and cheese and jalapeno," replied the lady.
I tried one of the Jalepeno. It was, admittedly, very tasty. But is this a legal Kolache? Or perhaps a totally illicit blending of two cultures?
