We discovered a restaurant not too far from the Great Pyramids during our first week here this year. The name is Mandy's and it is located just a couple of miles or so north of the pyramids on the road along the Mansouryea Canal out toward Kerdasa. Well, we call it Mandy's - I see by their website that it is more properly, Kheyam El Mandy.
After finishing the camel ride and pyramid tour, we headed there for dinner. We had tried a couple dishes previously and found the entrees excellent.
Amy tried the stuffed duck and pronounced it very tasty. We added some stuffed grape leaves to the salad course and had a great meal.
With time left in the evening, we called on Uber for a ride downtown. Traffic was very heavy and it took about an hour to reach Khan el Khalili, the bazaar. The bazaar is about 8 miles from our place and normally takes about 30 minutes. Uber and other ride sharing services give us a much nicer vehicle than the usual tiny Cairo taxis - in this case, a spacious Chinese BYD.
Terry and Amy found a few interesting items in the Khan while I was browsing the "antique section" for electronics and photo equipment.
The central lighting shop is always good for a photo.
These brass floor lamps in a small shop also caught my eye. Would love to have one or two of these lovely lanterns on our porch in Bloomington, but too difficult to transport home safely. So we admire them every time we're in the bazaar.

I also love the pierced lamps and haven’t figured out how to bring any home.
